With more than 114 million blogs worldwide there is literally millions of people trying to make money online from various advertising programs and Internet companies around the globe.
That’s the kind of stats that send my mind racing and the following is just a little food for thought on the integrity of large corporate Internet advertising companies.
I mean, take google for instance (try my best not to get banned here) and the google adsense program. How does a google adsense publisher know when they receive 0.10c for someone clicking on a google ad taking up some precious website real estate that they shouldn’t really be getting $2.00 or even more? The honest answer is, they don’t, not for certain. Should we presume that just because google is a large established Internet company that they are an honest company?
And the same goes for all other large Internet advertising companies. Would we feel any different if these companies were smaller and maybe not as successful? I suppose this train of thought can give the impression that we like to test the integrity of people/companies as soon as they become a success. Maybe subconsciously we all assume that success is often labeled with illegal or immoral actions. Of course this doesn’t mean it’s true but it can show our lack of belief in “good success” in this day and age.
It’s my guess that many of us blogger’s fall into the above category and although we probably wouldn’t question the integrity of large Internet advertising companies, It’s at least something that crosses our minds.
I suppose we’ll never really know whether we as publishers using these Internet advertising companies are actually getting a true fair deal by using these programs and have to put a certain level of trust into the companies that run them.
